How To Seal Your MDF Base!
It's easy to do but SO important!
All MDF bases should be sealed prior to tiling. MDF (medium density fiberboard) is a very dense wood composite that isn't subject to warping but why take a chance when you spend so much money on your mosaic tiles?
One glue that is popular is "Weldbond." It's a white glue that dries clear. Dilute the Weldbond using this ratio...5 parts water to 1 part Weldbond. Brush onto your MDF base, including all sides, corners and I even suggest doing this on the back. This gives an even tension to your MDF base.
Sealing is not the most exciting thing in the world but it only takes minutes to dry and you can tile away with confidence that your MDF base will not absorb any liquids when you grout and most certainly will not warp.
If you don't have any Weldbond on hand you can use any good glue. Carpenters Wood Glue is another good choice.
Happy tiling!

TOTALLY TUTORIAL EXCHANGE PROGRAM!
The deadline has passed for the Tutorial Exchange Program...
...and a big thank you to everyone who entered! I had more entries than I thought I would and am very happy that so many crafters and artists were interested in my mosaic kit!
I will be posting the names of the 4 winners on my blog tomorrow afternoon/evening :)
I will be in contact with everyone who entered. As I mentioned in my original post about the Exchange Program, the winners were chosen at random. I placed everyone's name in a box and with eye's shut (really!) I pulled out the 4 slips of paper with the names of those that will receive the mosaic kit.
I'll be back on tomorrow afternoon/evening with more information.
Thanks to everyone!
